We think a lot about goals during our building years, but they are just as vital during our investing years of retirement. Without goals, we can feel adrift, and sure to miss our best intentions.
US News lists six common goals during retirement.
Set a retirement budget.
Plan a milestone event.
Prioritize wellness.
Discover new interests.
Rethink your residence.
Leave a legacy.
Since my husband’s retirement, we have had fun thinking and dreaming about some of these. He recently got back from an East Coast Baseball Stadium Tour where they saw 5 games in 5 different stadiums/states in 6 days. We have a map on our wall with a goal to visit every major league baseball stadium in America. It is good to have some “Fun” goals in retirement!
More important than this goal; however, is that God finds us obedient to Him and walking in step with Him on this earth until we can be with Him in eternity. God’s goal is that not one person would perish, and He needs our help to accomplish this goal. We need to be His witness in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and every baseball stadium or wherever we go. But we have to be intentional…or we will miss this goal.
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
